Growatt WiFi Dongle Flashing Red – Connection Troubleshooting

Phenomenon: The WiFi dongle LED flashes red continuously. No data upload to ShinePhone app; inverter may show offline.

Technical Causes:

  • Dongle in initial configuration mode or reset state.
  • Failed connection to router (wrong password, weak signal, or 5GHz network).
  • Dongle not communicating properly with inverter.

Diagnostic Procedure:

  • Confirm dongle is securely inserted and inverter powered on.
  • Check router: Ensure 2.4GHz band active, signal strength adequate at inverter location.
  • Reset dongle: Press and hold button until multiple colors flash, release; LED should flash red.

Resolution:

  • Reconfigure via ShinePhone app in hotspot or standard mode.
  • Move router closer or use WiFi extender if signal weak.
  • Ensure router SSID/password contain only letters/numbers (no spaces/special characters).

WARNING: Maintenance and repair of PV systems, high-voltage DC, and AC components must only be performed by certified professionals with valid electrical qualifications (e.g., SEP/G1 in Poland, or local European equivalents). Unauthorized opening of the inverter housing will void the warranty and carries a risk of electric shock or fire.
