Growatt Inverter Noise – Cooling Fan Maintenance

Disclaimer: This content is for informational and educational purposes only. The diagnostic steps described are suggestions, not an official service manual.

Phenomenon: Inverter produces unusual fan noise (grinding, rattling) or excessive operation time.

Technical Causes:

  • Dust accumulation on fan blades or heatsink.
  • Fan bearing wear after prolonged operation.
  • Fan running continuously due to high temperature or derating.

Diagnostic Procedure:

  • Listen to fan during operation; note if noise correlates with load/temperature.
  • Check ambient temperature and ventilation clearance.
  • Observe if fan stops when inverter cools down.

Resolution:

  • Clean external heatsink fins and fan intake with compressed air (inverter powered off).
  • Improve installation ventilation if temperature-related.
  • Persistent abnormal noise indicates fan failure; requires replacement by service.

WARNING: Maintenance and repair of PV systems, high-voltage DC, and AC components must only be performed by certified professionals with valid electrical qualifications (e.g., SEP/G1 in Poland, or local European equivalents). Unauthorized opening of the inverter housing will void the warranty and carries a risk of electric shock or fire.

In case of persistent hardware failure, the only authorized path for repair is contacting the official Growatt Service Department.
