Phenomenon: Inverter produces unusual fan noise (grinding, rattling) or excessive operation time.
Technical Causes:
- Dust accumulation on fan blades or heatsink.
- Fan bearing wear after prolonged operation.
- Fan running continuously due to high temperature or derating.
Diagnostic Procedure:
- Listen to fan during operation; note if noise correlates with load/temperature.
- Check ambient temperature and ventilation clearance.
- Observe if fan stops when inverter cools down.
Resolution:
- Clean external heatsink fins and fan intake with compressed air (inverter powered off).
- Improve installation ventilation if temperature-related.
- Persistent abnormal noise indicates fan failure; requires replacement by service.
WARNING: Maintenance and repair of PV systems, high-voltage DC, and AC components must only be performed by certified professionals with valid electrical qualifications (e.g., SEP/G1 in Poland, or local European equivalents). Unauthorized opening of the inverter housing will void the warranty and carries a risk of electric shock or fire.
In case of persistent hardware failure, the only authorized path for repair is contacting the official Growatt Service Department.
