Description
Growatt APX 2.0 15 kWh – energy storage set
Growatt APX 2.0 15 kWh is a ready-made high-voltage (HV) energy storage set (LiFePO4 batteries) with 15 kWh of capacity, made up of 1 x APX 5.0M-B3 Master + 2 x APX 5.0P-B3, from the Growatt.tech range. This model is a high-voltage (HV) LiFePO4 energy storage battery from the APX Gen 2.0 system. It stores surplus solar energy and releases it in the evening and in backup mode, working with Growatt MIN-XH, MIN-XH2, MOD and MID hybrid inverters. In this generation the Master module takes over the role of the battery management system, so no separate power module is needed. An energy storage battery is matched to an inverter of the same voltage class — in this case: Growatt MIN-XH, MIN-XH2, MOD and MID hybrid inverters.
This page gathers the complete information about the model: how it works, compatible inverters, expansion options, the full specification from the manufacturer’s datasheet and capacity sizing. All parameters come from official Growatt documentation — we list them to make selection easier and to avoid mistakes at purchase. If questions remain after reading, our technical team will help match the energy storage battery to your inverter, the capacity to your energy use and the remaining components of the PV installation — write to info@growatt.tech.

How the Growatt APX 2.0 15 kWh energy storage battery works
Growatt APX 2.0 15 kWh is a high-voltage (HV) LiFePO4 energy storage battery from the APX Gen 2.0 system. It stores surplus solar energy and releases it in the evening and in backup mode, working with Growatt MIN-XH, MIN-XH2, MOD and MID hybrid inverters. In this generation the Master module takes over the role of the battery management system, so no separate power module is needed.
In practice, an energy storage battery increases the self-consumption of your solar power: instead of exporting surplus energy to the grid at a low price and buying it back at a higher price in the evening, you use your own energy when you need it. Combined with a hybrid inverter, the energy storage battery also provides backup power for key circuits during a grid outage.
Who this energy storage battery is for
- PV system owners maximising self-consumption — an energy storage battery shortens the payback time of the installation.

Compatible inverters and accessories
Growatt APX 2.0 15 kWh is a high-voltage (HV) energy storage battery, designed to work with: Growatt MIN-XH, MIN-XH2, MOD and MID hybrid inverters. Battery management relies on the APX 5.0M-B3 Master module, which acts as the battery management system for safe operation. Note: the voltage class of the battery (LV/HV) must match the inverter — we will confirm the pairing before you order. You will find the full range of inverters in the shop.
What the set includes
Growatt APX 2.0 15 kWh is a ready-made energy storage set with 15 kWh of capacity, made up of 1 x APX 5.0M-B3 Master + 2 x APX 5.0P-B3 (high-voltage (HV)) together with the accessories needed for commissioning: the APX 5.0M-B3 Master module, which acts as the battery management system included in the package. The set is prepared to work with Growatt MIN-XH, MIN-XH2, MOD and MID hybrid inverters — the voltage class (HV) and capacity are already matched, so the installer mounts it without selecting components separately. If needed, the capacity can be expanded later with additional modules.

Sizing the energy storage capacity
Modular expansion: one Master module (APX 5.0M-B3) plus up to five expansion modules (APX 5.0P-B3) of 5 kWh each = 5-30 kWh in a single cluster. Capacities above 30 kWh are built from two clusters working in parallel, and a two-cluster system is floor-standing only. Capacity is matched to the daily energy consumption and the goal of the investment: to increase self-consumption, an energy storage battery covering the evening load is usually enough, while real backup power calls for more capacity and power. Write to info@growatt.tech — we will size the system for your installation and inverter.
Growatt APX 2.0 15 kWh — savings and self-consumption
In many European markets, depending on your tariff, electricity exported to the grid is worth less than the electricity you later buy back. The Growatt APX 2.0 15 kWh energy storage battery reverses that balance: surplus solar energy that would otherwise be exported at a low rate is stored on site and used in the evening and at night. Self-consumption goes up, electricity bills go down, and the payback period of the PV investment gets noticeably shorter. On top of that comes a value that is hard to put a price on — energy security: during a grid outage, the energy storage battery together with a hybrid inverter keeps the most important circuits running in a home or business. The higher the energy prices and the bigger the daily consumption, the faster the energy storage battery pays for itself — which is why sizing should start from the real consumption profile, not just from the installed PV power.
Growatt APX 2.0 15 kWh parameters in practice
LiFePO4 (LFP) cells are thermally safe and resistant to degradation.
Construction: IP66 ingress protection.
Safety — LiFePO4 cells
Growatt APX 2.0 15 kWh is built on lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cells. This is currently the safest chemistry in common use in residential energy storage: it is thermally resilient, contains no cobalt and is far less prone to thermal runaway than older NMC cells. The built-in battery management system continuously supervises individual cell voltages, temperature and the charge and discharge currents, disconnecting the energy storage battery in case of anomalies and balancing the cells for a longer service life. Combined with the long cycle life, this translates into years of maintenance-free operation of the energy storage system.
Installation and operation
Growatt APX 2.0 15 kWh should be installed by a qualified installer according to the manufacturer’s manual. The IP66 ingress protection rating determines where it can be mounted; pay attention to the operating temperature range and ventilation. The energy storage battery is managed by the BMS and the inverter — once commissioned, its status (SOC, charging, discharging) can be checked remotely in the ShinePhone app. The product is covered by a European service warranty of 10 years, per the manufacturer’s terms.

What sets the series apart — Growatt APX 2.0 15 kWh
APX Gen 2.0 is a modular high-voltage energy storage system built from a Master module and 5 kWh expansion modules — 5-30 kWh in one cluster, up to 60 kWh with two clusters in parallel.
What to check when selecting the Growatt APX 2.0 15 kWh
The most important thing when buying an energy storage battery is matching the voltage class of the battery to the inverter: this model is high-voltage (HV), so it works with Growatt MIN-XH, MIN-XH2, MOD and MID hybrid inverters. A battery of the wrong voltage class will not work. It is also worth planning the target capacity up front (modular expansion is easy, but sizing the system from the start is more convenient) and the installation spot with a suitable temperature range and ventilation. If in doubt, send us your inverter model at info@growatt.tech — we will confirm the pairing before you order.
Monitoring — Growatt APX 2.0 15 kWh
You monitor the Growatt APX 2.0 15 kWh energy storage battery through the inverter it is connected to: the ShinePhone app and the ShineServer portal show the state of charge (SOC), the charge and discharge power and the operating history, with fault notifications. For installers managing multiple sites, Growatt provides service accounts with a view of the whole fleet from a single panel.
